THE POSITION
We are looking for a Senior Python Software Engineer to act in a Software Architect capacity for a high-impact, cutting-edge project in the Motorsport & Sports Tech industry.
In this role, you will be the core technical reference responsible for designing and driving the implementation of an AI-powered fan engagement platform. The platform utilises knowledge agents to synthesise canonical content from over 250 data sources, delivering personalised, real-time user experiences via feeds, push notifications, and a conversational AI assistant.
We are seeking a senior engineer who combines strong hands-on Python expertise with deep architectural mastery—specifically in distributed systems, API/contract design, and large-scale datastore strategies.
Engagement: Full-time (100% Remote), with exclusivity.
Duration: 6-month contract starting September 14th, with a critical initial 10-week rollout period.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
System Architecture & Design: Act as the lead technical architect for the system, making fundamental decisions around distributed architecture, datastore selection at scale, and API/contract design.
Core Backend Engineering: Design and build resilient, high-throughput microservices and streaming pipelines capable of ingesting and normalising data from 250+ canonical sources.
Durable Workflow Orchestration: Implement robust, transactional workflow orchestration patterns using frameworks such as Temporal or AWS Step Functions.
AI Platform & LLMOps Operations: Collaborate on knowledge graph integrations and platform-level LLMOps infrastructure (prompt registries, golden sets, CI/CD evals).
Observability & Scalability: Establish comprehensive telemetry, monitoring, and performance benchmarking (Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to ensure sub-second latency and absolute reliability during high-demand events.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must-Have
Backend & Python Expertise: Deep professional experience building production-grade distributed applications with Python (FastAPI, Pydantic).
Architectural & System Design Leadership: Proven track record in designing distributed systems, API contracts, and choosing/tuning datastores at scale.
Cloud & IaC: Cloud-native engineering (AWS, GCP, or Azure), container platforms (ECS, EKS, Fargate), and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
Database & Datastores: Extensive hands-on experience with relational databases and architectural strategies for scaling data layers.
Event Streaming & Messaging: Strong background in message streaming platforms (Kafka or similar) utilising transactional messaging patterns.
Durable Workflow Orchestration: Practical implementation experience with durable orchestration engines (Temporal, AWS Step Functions, or similar).
Observability: Robust monitoring and telemetry expertise using Grafana or equivalent tooling.
Language Skills: Advanced English communication skills (written and spoken) for cross-functional technical leadership and alignment.
Valued / Bonus (Nice-to-Have)
Knowledge Graphs & AI Systems: Hands-on experience with Knowledge Graphs (Neo4j, AWS Neptune) and modern AI/LLM platform operations (Langfuse, model-agnostic LLM gateways, RAG, prompt registries, evals in CI).
Vector Databases: Experience with vector stores (PostgreSQL + pgvector, Qdrant, Supabase).
High-Demand Systems: Previous experience developing and operating ultra-high-demand, low-latency systems (e.g., social media feeds, live sports networks).
Observability Standard: Direct experience implementing OpenTelemetry.
International Experience: Proven track record of working effectively in global or cross-border software teams.
ABOUT YOU:
Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change.
Outstanding management and interpersonal skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Innovative mindset and proactivity
