THE POSITION
We’re looking for a Network Automation Engineer to join a technical consulting team specialising in Networking and Data Center solutions. You’ll be working on complex automation projects in collaboration with some of the largest telco providers in Italy and Europe. This position is part of a specialised engineering team focused on network automation — creating tools and solutions to improve and scale service provider environments.
You’ll contribute to the automation of legacy and modern network infrastructures and support the design and implementation of network services through Python development. This is a hands-on technical role with the opportunity to work directly with customer engineering teams, vendor partners, and internal development squads.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and maintain Python scripts for network automation in legacy and Data Center environments
Design APIs to interact with and manage networking infrastructure
Collaborate closely with engineering and development teams
Participate in testing phases (lab setups, acceptance testing, etc.)
Support the commissioning and migration phases of network infrastructure projects
Contribute to the design and implementation of networking solutions for service providers
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have:
Solid Python programming skills
Experience using Python libraries related to networking (e.g., paramiko, netmiko)
Basic knowledge of networking and Data Center infrastructure
Understanding of TCP/IP protocols
Familiarity with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching technologies
Proficient in English (written and spoken)
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in Networking/Data Center technologies (e.g., Juniper, Cisco)
Experience in designing or implementing large-scale service provider network solutions
Knowledge of advanced routing and transport protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, MP-BGP, MPLS, Segment Routing, L2VPN, L3VPN, VXLAN)
Experience with Cisco ACI technology
Advanced certifications: JNCIP-SP/JNCIE, CCNP-SP, DC or Enterprise
Understanding of Layer-2 technologies (VLAN, STP, RSTP, MST, REP, PRP, GOOSE)
Familiarity with integrating networking tools and external systems
