THE POSITION
We are looking for a Backup Administrator to work within an Italian company which has been supporting businesses, financial institutions, and public entities with application solutions and IT services for over 40 years. They are specialized mainly in supporting business needs with an ecosystem of managed services and Cloud solutions.
As a Backup Admin, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining 40 petabytes of backups with long-term retention contracts. Our unit focuses on long-term data retention and maintenance, requiring diligent management of backups across multiple technologies and platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing and maintaining 40 petabytes of backups with long-term retention contracts.
Administering and configuring backup technologies such as BIM Dell Networker and Data Protection.
Coordinating backup schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage and managing on-call support when implemented.
Collaborating with internal teams to ensure seamless communication and integration between different backup units.
Providing support for backup-related tickets, particularly during early mornings and late evenings.
Troubleshooting and resolving backup issues, working with hardware server systems like Dell, IBM, Cisco, and HP.
Implementing and maintaining virtualization solutions using VMware VSphere, KVM, Nutanix, and other technologies.
Ensuring compliance with company data protection policies and procedures.
Communicating effectively with team members, including those in different time zones.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or
related field.
At least 5+ years of experience in Backup administration, configuration, and implementation.
Proficiency in enterprise-class hardware server systems (Dell, IBM,
Cisco, HP, etc.).
Knowledge of virtualization solutions (VMware VSphere, KVM,
Nutanix).
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with infrastructure and backup technologies, including Data Protection.
Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of Italian is a plus but not required.
